Frame & Flow (Using a Frame Drum for Rhythm Bliss - All Levels)

In January 2018, after a shamanic rhythm journey celebrating her 50th birthday, Alexandra experienced a powerful dream in which she found herself swimming with a dolphin, encircling a huge frame drum floating on the ocean surface. This vision inspired her to dig out the frame drum that she had in storage since her early 20s when she had used it at a workshop with Master Frame Drummer, Glen Velez. When the lockdown freed up more time to study, and with a strong foundation in Middle Eastern rhythm from studying doumbek with world-renowned percussionist, Raquy Danziger, Alexandra renewed her study of the frame drum. Inspired by Layne Redmond’s book, “When the Drummers Were Women”, she began learning from Redmond’s videos and recordings. She then deepened her exploration with a course of study with percussionist Yousif Sheronick, followed by studies with frame drum specialist, Marla Leigh Goldstein. Alexandra is profoundly grateful to Layne Redmond, Glen Velez, Raquy Danziger, Yousif Sheronick, and Marla Leigh Goldstein for their inspiration and wonderful teachings without which this course would not have been possible.
